The Reindeer Glacier & The Greenland Ice Sheet
The Greenland Ice Sheet is one of the country’s greatest natural wonders, covering more than 80% of Greenland’s surface. Yet, this colossal sheet of ice is slowly shrinking each year as it melts faster than it rebuilds.
Located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aasivissuit – Nipisat, the Reindeer Glacier is a breathtaking highlight of this frozen landscape. Towering up to 60 meters high, this spectacular frozen wall forms a striking contrast between land and ice.
The glacier gets its name from the frequent reindeer sightings in the area, but even without them, the site is an unforgettable spectacle. The glacier and the whole location is astoundingly calm, glittering, and just jaw-dropping beautiful, brimming with endless opportunities for photography and quiet reflection on the power of untouched nature.

Activity Overview
Your journey begins in Kangerlussuaq, traveling aboard a specially designed 4WD tundra coach, built to navigate rocky terrain and gravel roads. As we make our way toward the glacier, keep your eyes peeled for reindeer and musk oxen roaming freely, while your guide shares the region’s rich history and local stories.
After approximately 90 minutes, we arrive at the magnificent Reindeer Glacier. Here, you can walk along the glacier’s edge from the waterfall, capture breathtaking photos from multiple viewpoints, or simply absorb the grandeur and silence — broken only by the thunderous sound of melting ice.
During the summer months, the glacier can be especially dynamic, with occasional calving events and shifting ice structures. For safety, we maintain a respectful distance from these icy giants.
