About Polar Latitudes Expeditions

A History of Exploration and Innovation

Polar Latitudes Expeditions is the joining together of two industry-leading expedition companies: Polar Latitudes and Albatros Expeditions. Between us, we bring more than four decades of award-winning expedition experience to bear on your next unforgettable adventure into Antarctica or the Arctic.

Our two brands – now one – were both born of a common love for the furthest reaches of our planet, and an explorer’s need to discover what awaits us there.

It’s said that Søren Rasmussen, a Danish biologist with an insatiable appetite for exploration, founded Albatros Travel (which then branched into Expeditions) as a means to personally see the untamed corners of Africa and Greenland. And Polar Latitudes’ founders, John McKeon and Shanchen Ting, started Polar Latitudes with a decades-long love of Antarctica and a simple question: “If we were going to start the kind of company that we would want to work for and travel with, what would that company be?”

Now these two expedition companies are united, as Polar Latitudes Expeditions, bringing the very best of both to your next great polar experience, and ensuring that this “once-in-a-lifetime adventure” lives up to and even exceeds the promise of those words.
